How to almost never end up spam reported…

The „report as spam“ feature was initially invented to combat the growing amount of emails which looked like fraud, scam, malware… or anything of the sort.

And people still use it that way – for that purpose…

However…

They also abuse it sometimes.

Because your email may not be fraud, scam, phishing or malware…

…yet people will still report your email as spam.

Why?

There are many reasons:

  • Perhaps your email made them angry so they wanted to „show you“ by reporting you as spam…
  • Perhaps your email arrived at a bad/intrusive moment, so they acted irrationally…
  • Or perhaps it was their first time seeing one of your emails in a while… so they forgot about you and mistook you for one of those spam mailers…

You’re very likely suffering from that last one.

Because what I keep seeing – in this industry – over and over and over and over again…

…is the infrequent mailing.

I’ve been in this space for almost a decade now, so I’ve had touchpoints with AT LEAST hundreds and hundreds of newsletters…

And Nearly ALL supplement brands email around 1-5x/month.

(It’s more on the lower end of that range than on the higher – there are so many brands I only get 1 email/month from…)

In fact:

Whenever I see someone who emails at least a few times a week?

I get pleasantly surprised.

Because that’s definitely not the norm – yet it SHOULD be.

(If you care about money that is.)

Actually it should be even MORE than a few times/week…

Here’s what I said on this topic in my Book:

Email regularly – every day preferably – from the moment someone signs up, so you stay top-of-mind and they don’t forget you and report you as spam.

Now there are many more reasons why emailing daily is one of the best decisions you’re ever going to make…

But if we’re looking at it just from this angle of reducing your spam complaints?

It’s one of them.

This will do wonders for your inbox delivery – you’ll start landing more in the primary tab instead of the, well… spam tab.

And because of it – because more people will actually SEE your emails…

…you’ll probably pick up a few more sales too.

So send out an email on your best days… on your worst days… on Christmas… when you’re sick… when you’re tired… when you’re happy or sad.

And when you feel like you’ve got nothing left in the tank?

Still:

You send one ship out from the port.

Because if you’re not sending ships out?

Then don’t be surprised when no treasure comes back…
