Can you recognize your own emails?

Cadillac used to hold a position, with a particular market, as the only choice.

For sales professionals… sales managers… entrepreneurs in certain industries…

Cadillac was the car you bought to signal you had arrived.

No other car had that same status.

Moving up to having a Cadillac in your driveway – and ONLY a Cadillac – was what you did.

(As soon as you could.)

It was akin to getting married, buying a home, starting a family – things you did at a certain age…

…because that’s what you did at certain ages.

Nowadays?

It’s probably hard to imagine this golden era of Cadillac…

Because they squandered it all.

  • They stopped selling what it meant to own a Cadillac and switched to competing with other same-as brands just selling cars…
  • They radically changed their cars’ appearances, winding up looking like every other luxury car…

Everything is judged by its appearance – what is unseen doesn’t count…

So I don’t care if you have the (truly) best prices… the (truly) fastest delivery/shipment… the (truly) best customer service… the (truly) most amount of grams of protein per scoop…

All of it means squadoosh if no one is paying attention.

And what’s the easiest way NOT to get attention?

By having virtually the exact same marketing as your competitors do – take these 5 emails from different supplement brands I got:

===

33% off: ends Midnight -> Last Chance!

====

Up to 35% OFF – Time to Lock In Your Gains🚀

===

Your Favorite Brands are 20% Off 💥

===

🔥 20% OFF Whey—Feed Your Muscles!

===

Lock in 20% Off Before It’s Gone!!!

===

Now I won’t do it because I can’t be arsed…

-> But I wager if I went to each supplement company that sent this email to me…

-> If I put their email side by side with the other 4…

-> And if I censored the From/Sender Name of each email…

-> And asked them to recognize which email was sent by THEM…

None of them would know for certain.

(They could make a lucky guess, but that’s besides the point.)

I thought the purpose of marketing was to make you stand out amidst a sea of options – so you’re treated as unique, different and reside in your OWN category…

…so you can command higher prices than your competition.

(Amongst other useful benefits/perks…)

That’s what Cadillac had going for them:

There was THE Cadillac…

…and the rest were just luxury cars.

But anyway, that’s enough reminiscing on the past and the “good old days”.

If you want to discover how to turn your emails into THE golden era Cadillac…

…consult Blind Spots #3, #4, #5 inside my book.

(Heck, the entire book! You might as well, since it’s so short you can read it during your lunch break.)
