A self-sabotage trend sweeping the supplement industry (are you guilty?)

Scam Altman’s recent comments actually had me cracking up a bit:

===

I thought when we got to GPT-4, which was back in 2023, that very quickly after that there was going to be much more disruption, software businesses up for grabs right away, than it turned out to be.

I think / was wrong about a few things, but one in terms of the speed: the economy just has so much inertia.

People keep doing the same things, buying from the same company, wanting to use their tools the same way. I think this is actually a positive in many ways, and it’s going to make this big transition go smoother and slower.

I’m grateful for it. But it means we’ve all been too ambitious on timelines. Even with this incredible technology, society and the economy will adapt more slowly.

*insert that surprised pikachu meme here*

I mean…

Who EVER could have possibly predicted that, actually, Al would not take everyone’s job and render them useless within the space of just two years…

…especially since we had it on such good authority from fellas like Scammy Altman, the spineless always-reliable media, and a bunch of random Twitter anons?

I know I certainly did NOT!

I – like everyone else – am simply dumbfounded by this news.

My flabber is simply ghasted.

So where does this revelation leave us?

Well… unlike poor Sammy, the whoring journalists, and batty savvy Twitter anons…

Wise people are already using this for their benefit.

Take TikTok for instance:

A 16 y/o girl, Ellie Ellis, has recently ballooned from 6…

…to 800.000 followers in just 2 weeks by merely filming makeup videos in her room.

This is not accidental.

TikTok has every incentive to MANUFACTURE this overnight success-esque story.

Take an ordinary 16 y/o girl filming random makeup/life stories from her bedroom? You make millions of aspiring creators believe THEY could be next.

The more ordinary the winner looks…

…the more people think “man, I could do that too!”

A 20 y/o Harvard dropout who builds a $100M company doesn’t make you think you could do that – a random 16 y/o girl making videos from her bedroom does.

So from a platform perspective?

There is every incentive to promote people who appear unexceptional enough to be relatable.

This is what the AI-boosters don’t understand – people, wittingly or unwittingly, reject perfection.

It’s why Ted Bundy always acted a little “unokay” to lure his victims.

(e.g. he’d wrap his arm up in a cast to appear weaker, injured and less okay.)

He understood – better than apparently supposed “really smart” people running these companies – that folks are ultimately comfortable with humanity.

(Flaws and imperfections included.)

A clanker isn’t human – and it will never be.

ChatGipity version 6 or 6.69 won’t change that.

So as it stands right now?

It seems the Chinese are ahead of the US of A-ers once again.

Speaking of getting ahead:

You can get ahead of the vast majority of supplement brands.

(At least in the inbox.)

How?

Because I’ve noticed that more and more are not only sending out blatant sales pitches for emails…

But they’re sending “AI-powered” blatant sales pitches for emails!

(See my “AI-generated email bingo“ email reuploaded on the Email Echoes page.)

Therefore:

If YOU’RE the one who sends 100% good old-fashioned human intelligence-powered interesting & entertaining emails?

You stand out like a nun in a brothel.

Seriously, I don’t think it has EVER been easier to stand out.

Not because the game has become easier to play…

…the competition has just gotten worse – the late great Charlie Munger once said:

“The key to success in business is not being the smartest or working the hardest… but having poor competition.”

I see a lot of poor supplement brands today – the opportunity is ripe for the taking.

If you’re unlucky to have contracted psychosis in this AI-mania we’re currently in…

Then nothing in this email probably rang for you.

(Mania, btw, is a mental illness – marked by periods of unreasoned excitement or euphoria, delusions and dangerous hyperactivity.)

In that case?

Put this email on the shelf, don’t give yourself heartburn over it.

Otherwise?
